Carry-On

(2022)

A solo exploring the shaping of identity by place. An inquiry into how existing in new spaces requires an adaptation of performativity. Using airplanes as the basis of metaphor, the dancer embarks on a journey to a new destination while in the meantime deciding who they know they are, who others will soon know as, and who will be left behind.

Dancer: Graham Shelor

Spoken Word: Hawa Adam

Lighting Design: Michael Abbatiello

Performed at Middlebury College Fall Dance Concert 2021 and ACDA New England Conference 2022
