G-Baby Bodega

Since relocating to Atlanta in June 2023, I have been in community with the underground Kiki Ballroom scene in the city. I am a member of the Kiki House of Bodega and in just under a year my craft has grown exponentially. For that I have to thank Founding Mother Buffy Bodega, Founding Father Arnez Bodega, Overall Mother Kaila Bodega, Overall Godfather Bardi Bodega, and Atlanta Father Fendi Bodega amongst many other house members for their teaching and mentorship. Vogue Femme is by far the most sophisticated movement style and vocabulary I have learned. Dancers must possess a mastery of codified vocabulary (otherwise known as the five elements), understanding of rhythm and syncopation, and proficiency in improvisation. Furthermore, it requires you to be confident and authentic with who you are. And to be comfortable with that image being seen and judged by your peers. It is a privilege for me to be a part of this space and an honor I hold with great pride.
